The Dr. Paul Fazul Zungu Foundation’s Human Development Initiative (HDI) program serves as an umbrella covering several programs that we offer as a part of our other initiatives and as stand-alones within themselves. These initiatives are targeted at our vulnerable populations. Some of the programs will take place within the communities of the targeted populations, some will take place within our facilities, and others will happen within the facilities of our partners and organizations within our network. Our HDI program will serve ages 5 through 65 depending on the assessment of need, and will begin in Atlanta, Georgia USA in 2022.

We have several components to our HDI, and we will continue to expand our services to meet the needs of the communities we serve.

Empowering Marginalized Communities Through Education and Opportunity

If marginalized individuals and communities are armed with the knowledge that is available to others, they can better prepare themselves to face everyday problems with tools that can help them succeed.” (GH)

Our Education, Diversity, Inspiration, and Training (EDIT) Center will be launched in Atlanta, Georgia USA. There is a need to address the educational and training needs of marginalization children and young adults in the United States. We started at our base in Atlanta by fundraising to send volunteers into the communities to assess their needs.

Our International Initiative will be introduced after we have launched the Medical Aid, Grow Package & Sustainability, and Alleviate Poverty Through Outreach Programs. The Dr. Paul Fazul Zungu Foundation:

a) Creates small local educational enclaves in the communities we serve, and our volunteers teach children and teenagers within these communities.

b) In partnership with local groups, community organizations, leaders, and private and corporate organizations work aims to support and empower children, families, and communities to achieve independence and build better lives.

c) The HDIs will focus on areas of:

  • Housing/Housing stability
  • Equality & Equity for:
  • Women and girls in our global communities
  • Our marginalized and vulnerable populations
  • Supportive Services: Mental Health, Homelessness, Mental & Physical Disabilities, Elderly
  • Advocacy
  • Global Recruiting & Outsourcing Corporate Partnership Program

The Paul Fazul Foundationhas developed multiple resources, partnerships, and linkages within the communities we serve that make it possible to provide our HDI services. Your support allows us to make available these services to meet the needs of our communities who need the services we provide.

The Dr. Paul Fazul Zungu Foundation’s Human Development Initiatives serve as an umbrella covering several programs we offer as a part of our other initiatives and as stand-alone within themselves.

d) The Foundation’s Global Recruiting & Outsourcing Corporate Partnership Program (GROCPP). These initiatives are targeted at the populations we serve. We recruit and vet employees from our vulnerable populations and work with different corporate entities who share the same passion we have for making a difference to place our vetted staff in positions such as warehousing, manufacturing, call centers, etc.

Education and Training https://peterubafoundation.org/causes/education-and-training/ https://peterubafoundation.org/causes/education-and-training/#respond Wed, 24 Nov 2021 18:58:42 +0000 https://peterubafoundation.org/?post_type=causes&p=3866 The Foundation believes that through education, either by trade or early childhood education, the mind can be shaped to live a better life. We work within the communities to target where there is a need for intervention with individuals or groups who will benefit from our organization. We are working on building several advanced training facilities for students and young adults. The first such facility will be opened in Georgia, USA. These facilities will have computer training Centers, Home Learning Certification for K12, and Skills Training for Certification Courses.

Our EDIT program highlights the need for knowledge and empowerment through education and training. It focuses on providing education and training to individuals and communities on how to better protect, advance, and improve their circumstances. It also encourages diversity and inclusion in who we are and everything we do.

Alleviate Poverty Through Outreach https://peterubafoundation.org/causes/alleviate-poverty-through-outreach/ https://peterubafoundation.org/causes/alleviate-poverty-through-outreach/#respond Wed, 24 Nov 2021 18:25:30 +0000 https://peterubafoundation.org/?post_type=causes&p=3854 The eradication of poverty is one of the greatest challenges facing the world today and is a priority for The Dr. Paul Fazul Zungu Foundation. “Forecasts suggest that without significant shifts in policy, extreme poverty will still be in the double digits in sub-Saharan Africa by 2030. About 79 percent of the world’s poor live in rural areas. The poverty rate in rural areas is 17.2 percent—more than three times higher than in urban areas (5.3 percent). Close to half (46 percent) of extremely poor people are children under 14 years of age” (United Nations, Stats). Within certain regions with vulnerable populations, one out of 5 children live in poverty, and the negative effects of poverty and deprivation in the early years have ramifications that can last a lifetime.

Poverty has many dimensions, but its causes include unemployment, social exclusion, and the high vulnerability of certain populations to disasters, diseases, and other phenomena which prevent them from being productive. Having a job does not guarantee exit from poverty. As a matter of fact, many employed workers and their families live in poverty around the world.

The Paul Fazul Foundationutilizes its networks, volunteers, collaborators, partners, and program services from our other initiatives to work with our vulnerable populations identified as facing the pressing issue of poverty. We also advocate for social protection for them through the civil societies and local NGOs we partner with within the communities we serve to unlock social protections within the overlooked communities and populations.

Services

Giving women farmers more resources could bring the number of hungry people in the world down by 100-150 million people.
World Food Programme

Our donations for our Alleviate Poverty Through Outreach (APTO) Program are ongoing as we continue to provide outreach services to vulnerable populations globally.
Through our APTO Program, we:

a) Deliver Containers/Truckloads of food including rice, beans, pasta, sugar, cooking oil, bathing soap, and other items identified by our volunteers on the ground as needed by our vulnerable populations who are unable to feed their children or themselves healthy meals daily and who lack basic necessities.

b) We work with our partners and volunteers on the ground to identify specific areas to access well water and develop purification systems where necessary.

Through this program, we aim to directly improve the livelihood of our targeted communities, families, and individuals living in poverty. We provide interventions that contribute to lasting improvement in the circumstances of the populations we serve.

We work with the women in the different communities we serve to empower them to learn more about sustainable livelihood and advocate for their voices.

We ensure that equality and inclusivity are promoted in every program we introduce to the community.

The needs of each community will be different so we work with our volunteers on the ground to address the issues presented by each community.

Food, Hunger and Sustainability https://peterubafoundation.org/causes/food-hunger-and-sustainability/ https://peterubafoundation.org/causes/food-hunger-and-sustainability/#respond Wed, 24 Nov 2021 17:47:38 +0000 https://peterubafoundation.org/?post_type=causes&p=3849 In all the communities we serve, our Grow-Package-Sustainability (GPS) program serves as a response to addressing hunger and food insecurity. The mission of the GPS program is to partner with the local farmers and other interested individuals, to teach our locals how to grow their food, but not stop there, we then partner with them to package their goods locally, and then show them how to sustain it. We will help as well as show those willing to use this platform to create small businesses where they can sell to their fellow community members and even expand to other communities.

We believe that if every rural community we serve can be guided to Food Production and Sustainability through this GPS program the source of their hunger can be elevated. We also believe that the GPS program is now ready to be launched in several Caribbean countries where we are engaged. The GPS program includes the provision of seeds for planting as well as, the teaching of how to conserve the land being used and balance both the environment as well as create sustainability for the food being produced.

Services

Join us in our response to address Food, Hunger, and Sustainability in the vulnerable communities we serve.

The Barilla Centre for Food and Nutrition describes Sustainable agriculture as “the efficient production of safe, healthy, and high-quality agricultural products, in a way that is environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable.” (https://www.barillacfn.com/en/)

Understanding the ways to keep the agricultural produce grown in the rural communities as well as preserving and sustaining can make a tremendous change and difference in the lives of many rural communities that depend on it. The Dr. Paul Fazul Zungu Foundation’s “GPS” program addresses these issues in the communities we serve through:

a) Education – Most growers are learning:

  • how to get a better yield once they have the fresh yield from their….
  • how to package them to create value, and
  • how to sustain it.

We are positioned to educate these communities on how to add value to their yield. Next, we teach them how to sell the products to the local restaurants and end-user markets in their communities.

Once the value-added structures are implemented and we believe that we can create small local businesses among the communities that we serve. Our specially trained horticulturists and volunteers will support these activities by identifying individuals in the community to go through the numerous programs we offer.

The trends are well documented that many supermarkets are working with community growers to supply them with many products and this fits our GPS program through the match-making and adoption division of our GPS program where we match growers with the local businesses to sustain and support their efforts making it a value-added partnership.

b) Farmer Match-Making & Adoption

The Paul Fazul Foundationworks with partners and stakeholders on the ground including other local farmers, supermarkets, and local businesses in match-making and adopting up-and-coming farmers who have gone through our program and are ready to move to the next step. They are mentored and supported in their new venture.

c) The Foundation works with community members to access livestock such as chickens, goats, ducks, pigs, cows, etc to provide eggs, dairy, meat, etc. This livestock also creates an opportunity for individuals and families to harvest and sell their resources at local markets or from their homes for income to take care of and maintain their family needs.

These Steps all engender sustainability as the end result. Farmers learn to be self-sufficient and gain added value for their hard work, locals learn how to farm for their family’s sustenance and find out how to live on their harvesting and livestock.

Health and Wellbeing https://peterubafoundation.org/causes/health-and-well-being/ https://peterubafoundation.org/causes/health-and-well-being/#respond Wed, 17 Jun 2020 09:31:48 +0000 http://www.nicdarkthemes.com/themes/donation/wp/demo/charity/?post_type=causes&p=1266 Health is a critical part of human development. When individuals are healthy, they can perform at their best. The Paul Fazul Foundationoperates Clinic Centers in the communities we serve. Our Clinics Centers address immediate needs from simple examinations to major patient health needs as well as work with local hospitals to assist our cause to treat patients in need. Our Clinic Centers provide access to a General Practitioner, a Dentist, an OB/GYN, Pharmacist, an Optometrist, Eye examination equipment, and a fully equipped lab. We are currently in discussions and collaborations with several medical professionals and community leaders in other Caribbean cities we serve to open several Clinic Centers.

Comprehensive Community Healthcare

a) Maternal and Infant Health Programs

Maternal and Infant mortality is a global phenomenon that should not exist, yet “each day, approximately 800 women die of preventable causes during childbirth and Pregnancy…3/4 of newborn deaths occur in the first week of life”( MIH, n.d.).

The Peter Uba Foundation is addressing this issue with our communities by:

  • Investing in training programs for volunteer midwives within the local communities.
  • Partnerships with private and public entities that share our goal of improving global maternal and infant health.
  • Develop access to life-saving medical resources for trained midwives to administer to their patients, i.e., medications, vitamins, magnesium sulfate for eclampsia, and non-pneumatic anti-shock garments for hemorrhage.

b) Medical Aid

Many rural communities have no functioning healthcare infrastructure. The Paul Fazul Foundationwill intervene by building PUF Clinic Centers that provide comprehensive services to the vulnerable populations in the communities we serve. These centers will provide services such as:

  • Family Practitioners
  • Dentists
  • OB/GYN or Trained Midwives
  • Optometrists
  • Phlebotomists and lab services
  • Local Ambulance Services
  • Mobile Medical Aid
  • PUF Clinic Centers are available to anyone in the community who needs these services.

Through our Medical Aid Program, we are:

  • Distributing life-saving medicines to communities where transportation is unavailable to reach clinics and hospitals.
  • Training locals on life-saving techniques such as CPR, Seizure Response, Fractures, infections, and disease remedies.
  • Equipping locals with transportation systems where possible to reach a clinic or hospital for life-threatening illnesses.

c) We purchase and receive donated medical equipment.

d) We organize the allocation of prescription medicines, vaccines, and over-the-counter medications for our midwives and volunteer doctors who visit monthly to provide medical services to our communities. Donations are necessary to help us serve our vulnerable populations through this initiative.
Our Medical Aid Program will be critical to helping our most vulnerable and homebound populations who are unable to get to our Clinic Centers. We have our mobile medical staff to them to provide general care for the families, especially for the children.

e) The Foundation is recruiting Medical volunteers on the ground and in the areas we work to help us meet the needs of our vulnerable populations.
